It’s the vibrancy and expressiveness of VOH’s voice that gives her the power to tell a whole story by singing just a word or two.

Australian-Asian-American Alt-pop artist, VOH (aka Violet Hull) is set to break out with her first EP of songs wrapped in an eclectic style that she dubs WORLD POP. Her rendition on vocals, delivered with heart and soul and flavours of elation make you want to dance. Singing of love and attraction, getaways and staycations, VOH’s music transport you to fantasylands.

Looking at VOH’s origins and roots, it’s not surprising that she is able to mix and mash divergent genres into one song let alone one EP. It is the result of a childhood shaped in the melting pot of New York City and the long summer holidays at her family’s remote mountain hideaway in the south of France. Born in 2000, of creative parents who met in Central Park (mother artist (Thai)/father actor (Minnesota)) and relocated to Sydney, ten years after, VOH’s life was surrounded by music and performance from an early age.

While MTV and Triple J are already playing the music video of VOH’s single ‘Away’. She gets another slot this week at Asia Pop 40, the first regional weekly chart countdown radio show broadcast in over 90 countries throughout Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East.

VOH’s recording experience began at the tender age of 5 for the “The Spirit of Christmas” Album in 2005 (featuring Jimmy Barnes, Farnham, Vika & Linda, Marcia Hines, Gary Pinto and others). Since then, she has been singing her way through life, performing in school musicals at every chance, with stints at State Drama, learning guitar, performing gigs at cafes (now live online with her brother, a musical soul mate), and session singing for producer-songwriter, Tremolo Switch/Diesel Music.

VOH is also the niece of legendary Australian musicians, Jimmy Barnes and Mark Lizotte (aka Diesel).

While VOH has many other passions- Literature, History, Media, Art – one that takes precedence is the Olympic sport of Fencing. As the top-ranking Opens fencer in Australia, this year, she competed in the Olympic qualifier in Tashkent, an experience that she likens to the Hunger Games. Fencing internationally exposes VOH to a multi-coloured and an intercontinental tribe – the source of her variegated world pop taste.
