Jakarta’s 88 Degrees And Rising this September has been cancelled

88rising has announced the cancellation of its scheduled 88 Degrees and Rising festival in Jakarta, Indonesia this September.

88 Degrees and Rising was meant to be a new single-day event that will take place on September 9 in Jakarta, Indonesia at JIExpo. Announced to perform last month were NIKI, Rich Brian, Warren Hue and Stephanie Poetri, along with XG, MILLI, Atarashii Gakko! and Spence Lee.
Today (August 21), 88rising announced the event’s cancellation due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
“We are saddened to share that due to unforeseen circumstances, 88 Degrees & Rising Jakarta will not be taking place this year,” 88rising wrote in their statement. “All tickets will be automatically refunded to point of purchase. We love our fans in Indonesia and can’t wait to bring you a great show in 2024.”

88 Degrees & Rising would have been 88rising’s first event in Jakarta since debuting its Head In The Clouds festival in Indonesia in December last year.
The festival made its Jakarta debut in December last year and scored a four-star rating. Noting the intense heat, NME wrote: “Ultimately, a pitch-perfect first impression is difficult to achieve. HITC Jakarta’s debut was delightful enough for music fans who were looking for something fresh. Let’s hope that next year’s performers can handle the infamous Jakarta heat better.”
NIKI is also set to perform two headlining shows in Jakarta following the 88 Degrees And Rising set. She will perform at JIExpo Hall D2 on September 26 and 27 as part of her globe-spanning ‘Nicole’ world tour.
