FEMM Have Revealed Their Music Video For Their Latest Single ‘Mental Health’

Written by on 11/01/2022

Japanese Female Rap Duo FEMM have released their latest track, a dark neo-trap song called ‘Mental Health’.

Co-written by FEMM themselves, they also collaborated with their long time friend Yup’in, and Radical Hardcore Clique who are best known internationally for their Gagaku influenced style of Hip Hop.

This single can be perceived as the deepest of FEMM’s works; their straight forward yet sharp stinging lyrics spell out the dark side and complexity of human emotion. It does this in a way that does not carry any sense of vulnerability; the constant shooting self-assertion, is an exhilarating and soothing salvation.

Mashed with chopped-up future bass-like Gagaku sounds, the song is sonically uneasy, and delicately unbalanced.

The music video for this song, a visualisation of a thick darkness, was also released. The three-sided box surrounded by LED panels represents a closed room, hidden in the depths of the heart, in which FEMM and Yup’in express the negative emotions that rage like wild bullets within their souls.
