[Afropop] The whole Bongeziwe experience is conceptual in nature in the vein of The Miseducation of Lauren Hill, from an artist he is deeply inspired by. However Bongeziwe is a completely South African original in his falsetto voice, simple textuality and spiritual messaging, so the comparison goes only so far. amaXesha is rooted in the folk tradition of Umxhentso Transkei, homeland in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa and birthplace of Bongeziwe, but also home to many of South Africa’s musical legends.
