On December 9, concert promoter Magic Sound Entertainment took to social media to announce that EVERGLOW’s forthcoming tour in Southeast Asia had been cancelled. The four-city tour, was originally set to kick off in Manila next Friday.

“Dear FOREVERs (EVERGLOW’s fan base) in Southeast Asia, we regret to inform you of the cancellation of the EVERGLOW Southeast Asia Tour in Manila, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta,” wrote Magic Sound in its statement. The organiser did not specify the reason behind the cancellation, but added that the tour was “not feasible during this time”.

It added that fans who have already purchased tickets will be refunded through the respective ticketing platforms. Inquires regarding refunds can be directed to the ticketing  platforms for each venue, or via E-mail at kpop@magic-sound.co.uk.

“We are once again deeply sorry for not delivering EVERGLOW’s Southeast Asia Tour to you all. We apologise to the fans and any inconvenience this may have caused,” said Magic Sound Entertainment.

The girl group’s last performance in South East Asia had been at the Ripples For Hope 2022: A K-pop Friendship Day & Night event in Manila in November, alongside fellow K-pop groups AKMU and MOMOLAND. The group had performed as a five-piece at the event due to Chinese member Yiren’s ongoing break, which Yuehua Entertainment first announced in January 2022.

As a quintet, the girl group also teamed up with German DJ and producer TheFatRat last month on the song ‘Ghost Light’, released in both English and Korean.

EVERGLOW’s last comeback as a full group had been December 2021’s ‘Return of The Girl’ mini-album featuring lead single ‘Pirate’. “With ‘Pirate’, we want to take over and lead the world with our energy,” leader Sihyeon described the song in an interview with NME. “While, of course, we want to be respected as performers and singers, we also want to be recognised [as people] who can act as role models to others.”
