A 33-year-old Manhattan man jumped into the North Pool at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum on Monday afternoon and survived with just a leg injury ? but was awaiting criminal charges, according to police. The NYPD responded to the World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan around 1:30 p.m. after a Port Authority cop spotted the man leap into one of the two tiered reflecting pools at the memorial ? and climbed down to grab him, police and law enforcement sources said. A video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, shows the man lying in the 18-inch-deep water in the pool?s central basin, peering into the opening in the middle. He then slowly slides head-first and drops 20 feet into the lower part of the pool as witnesses gasp in horror, according to footage obtained by The Post. Police said he suffered an injury to his left leg and was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was in stable condition. Posted by CZ |
