Afrobeats artist Wizkid’s previous Billboard Hot 100 record has been broken by Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema. Wizkid previously held the record for the highest ranking Nigerian song on the Billboard Hot 100 after his hit single “Essence,” which featured Tems and Justin Bieber, climbed at No. 9 on the chart. The 22-year-old Rema beat Wizkid’s record on a chart dated for March 25th, 2023, according to an update from the official Billboard chart Twitter account on March 21st, 2023. The singer’s international hit “Calm Down,” which also features Selena Gomez, climbed at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it the highest-charting Nigerian single to date.
