The noteworthy albums released in September included Black Sherif’s debut album “The Villain I Never Was”, Young Jonn’s sophomore long-length studio project “Love Is Not Enough (Volume 2)”, Moliy’s amazing ‘Honeydoom’ body of work, and more. The frenzy that surrounded each of these albums was a clear indication that they were among the most anticipated musical releases of the year. The albums that we at DC Leakers selected for this month’s top five are only a handful of them. Have A Look Below. Black Sherif – The Villain I Never Was Ghanaian rapper and composer Mohammed Ismail Sherif, also known as Black Sherif, has finally released his debut album. Black Sherif’s 14-track body of work titled “The Villain I Never Was” discusses extensively, his present mental state and the circumstances he is now dealing with. Songs like Soja, Kwaku The Traveler, and Second Sermon Remix, which were already available, gave the album’s official release some impetus. Only one musician, Burna Boy, was featured on the project, and he appeared on the remix of the Second Sermon, one of the album’s 14 songs. This speaks volumes about Black Sherif’s skill as a solo artist. Even though Black Sherif didn’t take home the prize for best international at the recently held BET Hip-Hop Awards, this album will make up for it. This effort will undoubtedly open more doors for him and push boundaries. Young Jonn – Love Is Not Enough (Vol. 2) Young Jonn, a Chocolate City singer-songwriter and record producer, has had a busy year, as he returns with his sophomore effort “Love Is Not Enough” Vol. 2 EP, which serves as a deluxe to his debut release. Since making his debut under the renowned entertainment label Chocolate City Music, Young Jonn has produced a number of successful singles, including Dada, Dada Remix with Davido, and his most recent chart-topping single Xtra Cool, which has elevated him to a prominent African act in the music industry. Young Jonn, who has since joined the group of modern Afro-pop musicians and artists in Nigeria, uses sonic pleasure to express his message. After the release of his most recent singles, he has kept his word to give his fans who have devoted their time and attention to listening to his songs nothing but fantastic music. The six-track full-length project takes listeners on a musical journey and features more excellent performances on three newly added songs, including “Xtra Cool,” “Sokoto,” and “If You Leave.” This project further demonstrates Young Jonn’s musical excellence and his desire to keep providing his fans with quality music. This project is an extension of the examination of the highs and lows of love. Moliy – Honey Doom The long-awaited extended play “Honey Doom” by Ghanaian singer-songwriter Molly Ama Montgomery, often known as Moliy, has finally been delivered. Prior to the official premiere of “Honeydoom,” she released a song called “Hard” featuring Moonchild Sanelly. She released her EP, Honey Doom, to cap off the month of October. It talks about relationships’ “bittersweet nature” and the heartache that frequently accompanies them. On songs like “Hard” and “Freak,” her delicate voice is layered over dance-inspiring sounds. Contributors to the eight-track album include Juls, P.Priime, Moonchild Sanelly, Melissa, and DJ Radix. Bella Shmurda – Hypertension Bella Shmurda, a street-hop musician from Nigeria, has unveiled his 15-track album dubbed Hypertension. Bella Shmurda adds to his discography with the release of his debut album, Hypertension. Finally, the project that fans and listeners have been waiting for for more than a year has arrived. The name of the new Hypertension album was inspired by his previous extended play High Tension and its follow-up (2.0). There are 15 beautiful songs on the album, and Phyno, Omah Lay, Simi, BackRoad Gee, Not3s, L.A.X, Victony, and Popcaan all make cameo appearances. Blaqbonez – Young Preacher Blaqbonez had already evolved a formulaic strategy to entice listeners to a fun side of himself by the time 2021’s Sex Over Love appeared, so helping to lengthen the shelf life of his releases. His funny persona conveyed a contentious idea of reeling in pleasure rather than being tied to a love connection using this strategy, which developed into Sex Over Love. The message, which was equally colorful and contemplative, resonated with Blaqbonez and brought him a lot of hits. Using his love for women, difficult observations on his childhood and the luxuries fame now grants him, this theme is reiterated in Young Preacher. The 14-tracklist body of work Young Preacher featuring notable names like Amaarae, Lojay, Tekno, Tay Iwar, and others has a sophisticated, soulful sound that is characterized by several beat changes, guitar, and keyboard embellishments, and in-depth narration. It’s like a gospel of Blaqbonez. The post The 5 Best Afrobeat/Afropop Albums Of October 2022 appeared first on DCLeakers.com.
