Filipino folk-pop outfit Ben&Ben have released a music video for their single ‘Paninindigan Kita’ that takes inspiration from the love story of two of the band’s members.

The band first dropped ‘Paninindigan Kita’ on April 30. The track marked the first song the Filipino outfit wrote in a studio since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Its video, directed by Niq Ablao, stars Ben&Ben members Pat Lasaten and Agnes Reoma as a couple standing up to public prejudice against queer relationships. According to a press release, the video reflects the real-life experiences of the two band members as a couple.

“We’re both excited and nervous because we’re not very public about our relationship. We also aren’t into PDA, in fact our bandmates seldom see us hold hands,” said keyboardist Pat Lasaten via a press release.

“Expressing this story to a wider audience will be a fun challenge, as we aren’t actors. Nonetheless, we’re excited for the number of queer kids who’d see it,” bassist Agnes Reoma added.

“Stand up and show up for your person. Choosing someone means you’re willing to be there through the good and the bad. To love is easy, but it takes a lot of strength to love courageously,” Lasaten previously commented about the video on social media.

Earlier today, Ben&Ben also shared ticketing information for their concert at the CCP Open Grounds in Metro Manila on September 3, which doubles as a “send-off” for the band as they head to North America for an eight-date tour.

Ticket pre-sale for the concert begins July 9 while general sales begin July 12. Seated side-stage tickets cost PHP2,500 and PHP1,500 while standing front-of-stage tickets go for PHP1,000. Other standing tickets cost PHP500. Tickets can be bought online via Ovation Tickets or in person at TicketNet outlets.

Yesterday, the band postponed their July show in Santiago, Isabela, due to lead vocalist Paolo Benjamin and percussionist Toni Muñoz testing positive for COVID-19.
