submarine

Believe it or not, there’s something more terrifying than deep sea diving and being stuck inside a submarine: deep sea diving and being stuck outside a submarine.

These scuba divers off the coast of Hawaii experienced that exact fear, when a submarine appeared from the depths of the ocean directly beneath them. Fortunately, it appears to be an Atlantis tour submarine; a tourist submarine experience that lets passengers get an up-close view of marine life at shallow depths. Were it a military submarine, that would have been a very different story.

“I had one of these sneak up on me diving in Cozumel last summer,” @DustinM64 commented. “It definitely was a surprise to see it come out of the blue!”

The divers are also fortunate that there were no sonar pings from the submarine, as those can be deafeningly loud for divers and marine life around them. Just check out this terrifying clip from divers experiencing a sonar ping from a mysterious distant sub. Posted By host

The missing submarine carrying five rich guys to the depths of the Titanic’s wreckage, and now likely to their deaths, has become the biggest news story of the year. By now, the submersible’s estimated oxygen supply would be gone, but that might not matter. That’s because in all likelihood, the sub lost contact with its surface ship due to a failure in structural integrity, and an instant implosion from water pressure above.

But what might that look like Compared to the all too common explosion, implosions can be hard for us surface dwellers to visualize. If you feel this way, then the destruction of old train cars using vacuum induced implosion has you covered.

“Apparently at that depth, if it?s minivan sized, it would implode to about the size of a basketball,” serena.illescas commented.

That’s because these train cars are being imploded by one singular atmosphere’s difference in pressure. The submarine would be under about 380.

On the bright side, it would be a much better way to go than slowly running out of air, contemplating your impending doom. Posted By Ghost

Unless you’ve been living under the sea, you’ve no doubt heard about the lost submarine carrying five incredibly rich men to the Titanic’s wreckage.

After setting out early Sunday morning, the submersible quickly lost contact with its surface ship and has been missing ever since. Around the same time, the underwater videographer Abbi Jackson posted a TikTok from a ship in the North Atlantic Ocean, with the caption “Watching a submarine go down to the Titanic.”

16.2 million views later, people are clambering to figure out if the video is a morbid coincidence, a troll, or the worst-timed TikTok of all time. Remarkably, it looks like the latter.

“Well this didn?t age well,” one viewer commented.

Abbi’s page has gone silent since the video was posted two days ago, but she has not taken it down as of yet. In previous videos, she can be seen wearing an OceanGate life vest, and filming a man who appears to be Paul-Henry Nargeolet; the French ex-Navy diver and Titanic enthusiast who has seen the wreckage 37 times, and is feared to be aboard the submersible.

Her Instagram also confirms that she works for OceanGate, the company responsible for the expedition.

“Moment before disaster” videos are always shocking, but this one might just be the most improbable of all time.

As Molly Seger joked, “Girl did you not keep your eye on it ”
