The suspect was fleeing police in a slow-moving golf cart while holding a dog on his lap. He was wanted in connection with an assault with a deadly weapon. The man stopped the golf cart near Oxnard Street and Laurel Canyon Boulevard in the Valley Glen neighborhood at 9:44 p.m., Eisenman said. The world record for the fastest speed achieved by a manned aircraft was set by Major William “Pete” Knight on October 3, 1967. Piloting the experimental X-15 Major Knight was clocked going 7,274 km/h (4,520 mph), or Mach 6.7.
