“Las Vegas police have arrested someone in connection with the 1996 shooting of Tupac Shakur.
Duane ‘Keefe D’ Davis was taken into custody on Friday morning, though the exact charges remain unclear. Davis has spoken openly about being at the scene of the drive-by shooting 27 years ago. A Netflix documentary previously named Davis’ nephew as the shooter, despite the gangster bragging about killing Tupac in September 1996, in books and interviews. The Compton Crip gang leader, 60, even wrote a memoir confessing to his role in the fatal shooting of the hip-hop legend. He claimed in the 2018 documentary that he was riding in the car with his nephew Orlando Anderson and handed him the murder weapon before he fired. Shakur was 25 when he was gunned down on the Vegas strip, with Davis writing in his 2019 tell-all memoir ‘Compton Street Legend,’ that he was in the Cadillac involved in the shooting. In the book, he said that he told authorities about his involvement in the killing in 2010, during a closed-door meeting with federal and local authorities. ‘They promised they would shred the indictment and stop the grand jury if I helped them out,’ he wrote. At the time, he was 46 and facing life in prison on drug charges when he agreed to speak with the authorities. Before the draft began, Andrews brought up Alabama star Brandon Miller, who eventually was taken No. 2 overall, and his connection to the fatal January 15 shooting in Tuscaloosa involving his then-teammate Darius Miles. Police say Miller delivered a gun to Miles that was used by another man to kill 23-year-old Jamea Harris. Miller, who continued to suit up for Alabama throughout the investigation, is hopeful he won’t face charges. |
