Somalia has suspended an athletics official who will be subject to legal proceedings after an untrained, non-athlete runner was sent to compete in a 100 meters race at the World University Games in China. Video of the outclassed race went viral online with the runner finishing 10 seconds after the winner who was from #Jamaica. She ended her loss with a nice little skip after crossing the finish line. đ
The embarrassing moment resulted in the suspension of Khadijo Aden Dahir, the chairwoman of the Somali Athletics Federation, according to the sport ministry. The chairwoman is accused of âabuse of power, nepotism, and defaming the name of the nationâ in the face of the world, said the ministry in a statement posted on social media. There are some allegations that the runner was given the chance to compete because she was a relative of Dahir. Posted by PSmooth |
