Netflix announces new premiere date for K-drama ‘The Fabulous’

Netflix has announced a revised premiere date for its upcoming original K-drama The Fabulous, starring SHINee’s Minho and Chae Soo-bin.

Earlier today (November 30), Netflix announced on Instagram the revised premiere date of the series, which was initially supposed to premiere earlier this month on November 4. The series will now hit Netflix globally on December 23.

The decision to postpone the series’ release on the platform was made in observance of a period of mourning in South Korea that overlapped with its original premiere. The mourning period was announced by South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo late last month after a tragic crowd crush in the nightlife district of Itaewon in Seoul claimed the lives of over 150 people on October 29.

The Fabulous sets itself in the fast-paced, glamorous world of South Korea’s illustrious fashion scene. Freelance photo editor Ji Woo-min (played by SHINee’s Minho) is at the heart of its schemes, crossing paths and eventually developing a romance with PR manager Pyo Ji-eun (Rookie Cops’ Chae Soo-bin).

The series is also set to include cameo appearances from several top South Korean models, as seen in the teaser released by Netflix early last month. One scene most notably included Choi So-ra, best known as the winner of the third cycle of Korea’s Next Top Model.

Other actors previously announced to be joining Minho and Chae in the cast of The Fabulous include Kim Min-kyu – a past Produce X 101 contestant – Woori The Virgin’s Byun Jun-seo and Lee Mi-do (Kiss Sixth Sense, House of Lies). Actors Kwon Hae-sung (Cafe Minamdang, The Devil Judge), rookie actress Ye Seon-ho will also be appearing in the series, among others.

In other K-drama news, Red Velvet singer Yeri was cast as a lead in the upcoming series tentatively titled Cheongdam International High School. Other actors slated to join Yeri include actors Lee Eun-saem, Lee Jong-hyuk and Yoo Jung-hoo. Yeri’s appearance in the forthcoming series will mark her first acting role since her involvement in Naver TV’s July 2021 web drama series Blue Birthday.
