10 Songs You Need To Hear This Week’ is a 10-track-listing playlist highlighting the best songs released over the past few days from Africa and the Caribbean (Jamaica). With his most recent song, “Gidigba,” Stonebwoy re-engages his fans and listeners after just finishing his Therapy tour (Europe Edition). This song will undoubtedly get you up and moving since it is loaded with raw attitude, memorable hooks, and a touch of enchantment. Stonebwoy’s second official release in 2022, the song was produced by Phantom and is a follow-up to his previous hit, “Therapy.” Asake – Organise Asake is one of the breakout stars in 2022. The singer-songwriter from Nigeria has been a prominent figure in the African music scene since his inception earlier this year with a self-titled EP titled ‘Ololade Asake’. He is known for his vocal range and compelling lyrics. As a result of the string of commercial hits he’s had over the course of the past 10 months, his debut album, “Mr. Money With the Vibe,” has been extremely well received. ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe’ is a 12-track-list body of work with all songs written by Asake himself. The album is said to be a reflection of his life and career so far and bewitched with songs that are catchy, energetic, and lyrically outstanding. Only two artists, Burna Boy and Russ, contributed to the album; they appeared on tracks 12 and 10, respectively. This highlights Asake’s skill as a solo artist, who can make beautiful works without relying much on features. KiDi – Champagne Ghanaian singer-songwriter KiDi is back with a new song titled Champagne. Prior to this release, KiDi with the moniker, Sugar Daddy, teamed up with popular Jamaican artiste Mavado for the song titled ‘Blessed.’ A short while afterward, information about a forthcoming piece of work called “4 Play” was publicly disclosed. Building anticipation for the release, KiDi provides listeners with a taste of the tape by dropping a brand-new song called “Champagne,” which is also on it. Champagne is a lovely song about living the best of your life and it’s a lovely tune that will have you feeling good vibes all day long. The song was co-produced by Telz and KiDi. Tulenkey ft. Medikal – Fa No Fom As 2022 draws to a close, Ghanaian rapper Tulenkey has made the decision to sow chaos. The Ghanaian rapper has returned with a new song, but this time he’s exploring a different genre. Barely 48 hours ago, he made his headline debut for the year with a fascinating rap track named “Point Of View,” which he quickly used as his springboard. Tulenkey invites award-winning Ghanaian rapper Medikal to trade verses with him on the Chensee Beatz-produced single, titled “Fa Ne Fom.” The possible street anthem arrives as Christmas anticipation grows and could end up on the playlist for the official Christmas party. Patoranking ft. Diamond Platnumz – Kolo Kolo Nigerian music heavyweight Patoranking returns today with “Kolo Kolo,” featuring Tanzania’s Diamond Platinumz. The joyous afrobeats banger, produced by Yung Willis, is the first single from Patoranking’s forthcoming fourth album, and his first new release since 2021’s “Celebrate Me.” Dammy Twitch directed the music video, which was filmed in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania with Nigerian actress Nancy Isime as the love interest who has Patoranking going “kolo kolo” — a Nigerian term for mad, or crazy. “Kolo Kolo” pairs two of Africa’s most popular music stars in Patoranking and Diamond Platinumz. Collectively, the two artists have over 23 million Instagram followers and more than 2.4 billion YouTube views. Their previous collab, 2017’s “Love You Die,” has racked up over 60 million views on YouTube, and an additional 20 million streams on major DSPs. “I always love to work with artists from different parts of Africa,” Patoranking says. “Reuniting with Diamond was a no-brainer. We’ve always had that chemistry musically. Anytime we link up, it’s pure vibes.” The track opens with a seductive horn melody, setting the stage for Patoranking and Diamond Platinumz to serenade their love interests in Nigerian Pidgin and Swahili, respectively. “Kolo Kolo” reunites Patoranking with Yung Willis, who produced “Celebrate Me,” winner of the Best Recording of the Year award at the 15th Annual Headies Awards in Atlanta. Patoranking also won for Best Reggae/Dancehall Album with 2020’s Three at this year’s Headies, the first edition of the prestigious African music awards show to be held in the U.S. One of African music’s most multifaceted artists, Patoranking is many things to many people. An international reggae star whose dancehall anthems have resonated from Nigeria to Jamaica, his collaborations with top African acts Tiwa Savage (“Girlie O”), Wande Coal (“My Woman, My Everything”) and Sauti Sol (“Melanin”) have made him an afropop icon across the continent. Diamond Platinumz is one of Africa’s most popular recording artists, known for hits like “Inama” and “African Beauty”—  and for popularizing East Africa’s Bongo Flavor sound. In 2021, he became the first sub-Saharan African recording artist to record over 1 billion YouTube views.He joins Patoranking on “Kolo Kolo” fresh off his star appearance on Netflix’s hit series, Young, Famous and African, which was just renewed for Season 2. Patoranking is currently putting the touches on his as-yet untitled fourth album, due for release early next year through a new partnership between his own Amari Musiq label and distributor The Orchard. As a brand ambassador for Hennessy, he was recently welcomed at the Château de Bagnolet in Cognac, the Hennessy family home, where he commenced recording for the album. Lyta & MohBad – Formula ‘Formula’ is a brand-new track from Lyta. However, this time he was joined by Mohbad, a previous label mate. The song “Formula,” which is a little different from the typical Lyta release, is calming and has both singers talking about the significant decisions they make in quiet. Dayonthetrack – Senorita Ghanaian singer-songwriter Dayonthetrack wraps up summer with anthemic single ‘Senorita’. The record hears Dayonthetrack impressively layer a catchy hook over a bounce-fuelled production by A-Swxg. Following on from ‘Prisoner’ where we heard Dayonthetrack exploring heartbreak to now lifting spirits and looking for love and his ‘Senorita’. ‘Senorita’ signals none stop hits and music from Dayonthetrack as he readies up to his the stage in US and UK alongside Kwesi Arthur, who featured the talented music on his latest album ‘Son Of Jacob’. Dayonthetrack penned ‘Toxic’ with Adekunle Gold, ‘Baajo’ featuring Joeboy and ‘Celebrate’ with Teni. The singer has been dance-floors alight with bangers such as ‘Animal’ and ‘Party’ by A-Swxg. The talented artist has already received nods of approval from BBC 1Xtra’s DJ Edu, YFM, Pluzz FM, leading youth radio Guide FM and more. Tekno And Stefflon Don – Down Flat (Remix) After recently finishing a tour of the United States and Europe, gifted Ghanaian singer-songwriter Kelvyn Boy is making a comeback. Kelvyn Boy started his first US tour two months ago, headlining events in numerous cities, thanks to the song “Down Flat.” Regarding his musical releases this year, not much can be said. With the song “Down Flat,” Kelvy Boy made his first grand entrance of 2022 in January. The song did incredibly well, succeeding on a number of levels. As a way to maintain interest in the song, Kelvyn Boy links up British Jamaican artist Stefflon Don and Nigerian hitmaker Tekno for the international remix. Supa Gaeta ft. Yung Pabi And Bryan The Mensah – Shut Up Ghanaian musician Supa Gaeta after a long break away from music after the release of his very successful project SUPA SZN which featured songs with Oxlade, Blaqbonez & Wavy The Creator has released a new song. Supa Gaeta went on a year-long break to focus on working on himself as a person and creatively get enough time and freedom to finish work on a lot of music which many believed would include another project. All we are hoping for is to hear how the journey has been for Supa Gaeta, via his tweets he has expressed that he’s ready to share all the tales of his experiences away in his music. Supa Gaeta keeps his promises by releasing new music. With the Hip-hop/Rap song “Shut Up,” he makes his headline account of the year. Bryan The Mensah and Yung Pabi, two of Ghana’s most gifted rap artists with ferocious writing skills, collaborate with Gaeta on the song. David Acekeyz was the one who produced the song.
