Singaporean R&B artist Umar Sirhan has released an intimate new single, ‘If’.

The track is a romantic ballad dedicated to fighting uncertainty in relationships and overcoming anxiety and abandonment in love. “If I turned to soil, would you be a flower to decorate this chest of mine? / If I were a poem would you be a rhyme to a song I wrote about time?” Sirhan croons over gentle acoustic guitars and soulful piano.

According to a press release, the track takes influences from artists including Luke Chiang and Bruno Major.

‘If’ follows Sirhan’s debut single, ‘Feel’, which he put out earlier this year in March via Where Are The Fruits. According to a post made on Sirhan’s Instagram page, the song was written close to two years ago.

Earlier in June, Sirhan guested on Aeriqah’s single ‘Maybe’. The track will be a part of the Singaporean indie-folk artist’s debut album, which is slated for release later this year.

Last month, Umar Sirhan performed at Gastrobeats festival, which featured performances from acts including Marian Carmel, Subsonic Eye, Intriguant and Evanturetime.

In 2020, Sirhan performed at Singapore’s National Day Parade alongside artists including Shabir, ABANGSAPAU, and Abby Simone. In 2018, Sirhan dropped the Christmas-themed single ‘Good Tidings’, which was a collaboration with Hasyir Ibrahim and KYLA T.
