Bali-based dance music producer and DJ Dipha Barus has released the music video of ‘Keep It Hush’, a social media anxiety-themed single, featuring Afgan and Esther Geraldine.

The music video featured Barus, Afgan and Geraldine who played the roles of photographer, manager and intern at a photo studio. Directed by Shadtoto Prasetio, the video explores the anxiety of social media users today. It reflects how all social media users feel after the images are published. Satisfaction at this point wears off revealing some of society’s norms in this digital world.

Co-written with Afgan and Geraldine, Barus’s song ignites a message close to all of us who uses social media to find self-validation and how privacy is no longer a fancy commodity in verses including “Ain’t nothin’ but a heartbreak, coz you make this go your way / Know how to keep it silent, confide only in your space / Don’t mean to hide it, can’t find any other way/Writing my story, but let’s keep it lowkey”.

Barus has released three singles this year: January’s ‘Tidak Ada Salju di Sini, Pt. 7’ featuring Hindia (aka .Feast frontman Baskara Putra), and March’s cross-continent collaboration with Colombian artist Jackie Castro, ‘Flower’.

He is currently scheduled to perform next at the 2021 edition of DWP Virtual, the Djarkarta Warehouse Project’s online electronic music festival, which takes place on December 11 and 12.

In 2019, Barus won Best Soul/R&B Collaboration with the song ‘My Kind of Crazy’ at Anugerah Musik Indonesia.

His first album, Confession No.1, was a mix of jazz, pop, and R&B influences and included tracks, such as “Terima Kasih Cinta”, “Klise”, “Sadis”, and “Tanpa Batas Waktu”. A music video of the song “Terima Kasih Cinta” was produced by Thalita Latief and directed by Jose Purnomo.
